… and spare us all.
Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla has recently raised hell in the media following Alec Baldwin’s shots on Letterman about “taking on a Filipino mail order bride … or a Russian one.”
What escapes Revilla is that Alec Baldwin was joking, and that people have made a lot of jokes about other people’s nationalities before. Well, at the very least, Baldwin was TRYING to be funny. Revilla is just obviously trying to be famous again for the upcoming elections, but let’s not dwell on that.
The thing to remember here is the irony that Revilla, himself, is a film and TV celebrity here in the Philippines. And let’s not be coy about it, it was the prime push he used to snag a senate seat.
Fact is, there used to be, or maybe still, mail order brides here in the Philippines (and/or in Russia). What Revilla should be outraged about is the fact that Filipinos are raring to escape the Philippines, because numbnuts like him doesn’t help at all. All of what we have heard from him since the elections were his scuffle with MTRCB Chairman Edu Manzano and the well-publicized wedding of his non-showbiz daughter.
Revilla has played an adulterer and a philanderer in countless of movies, are we offended? Do we really believe Baldwin will take on a Filipina bride? Do we dare believe Revilla will give Baldwin a walloping once he steps foot on th country?
Or maybe the barometer is Manny Pacquiao. Now that guy can threaten.

Where was Bong when Candy made fun of the Igorots? I can’t believe it that no one from the Senate raised the issue on discrimination yet fretted pver the DH issue and this one.

Revilla is just obviously trying to be famous again for the upcoming elections.
You hit the right topic. This is election day and his wife is coming to politics too.

Bong Revilla is stupid. He chooses the most innocuous subjects to passionately rant about, incidentally these subjects are connected to showbiz.

where is Alan Peter Cayetano in the midst of all of this? isn’t he the head of the committee on public info and mass media. he’s having bong revilla do his job for him. lazy. tsk tsk

you are stupid sammies!!! At least Senator Bong Revilla did something to help other people…not like you, you did nothing but to do this kind of comment…..

I dont see anything wrong about what sen. bong revilla did. He just stood up for us filipinos.
Which is the right thing to do. Why not try to look at the big picture?! Instead of bashing our senators who who are doing something for us, why not try to support them. At the end these small things will benefit us.

I believe in Sen. Bong coz he fights for the people
who has been abused. Let us just support him instead of criticizing his works.

For starters, if you do really “love” your country, you would certainly feel disdain for whoever makes such a rash joke about your own people. From what I know, Revilla is one who stands against discrimination. You wouldn’t notice that because you are obviously one who is so caught up with what you only watch on TV.
For goodness sake, how can one sit back and relax when someone like Alec Baldwin used the name of the Filipinos “to be funny.” Like he said, he expected such reaction after his remark. It wasn’t stupid for Revilla. But I guess it was stupid for Baldwin to joke about in the first place, when he really knew what he would get for it.
It’s such a shame that you as a Filipino, would actually “laugh” at such joke. If I should remind you, Alec Baldwin is from a superpower nation that has raped this country, a lot of times. And it definitely doesn’t give me any reason to bow my head and snicker at this.

Exactly!!!! and obviously Sen. Bong is not trying to be famous coz we all know that he’s already is.

I heard there is a senator that enjoy his sexual life with another actress with similar name even he is already married.
Do you think he has the credibility to speaks for the woman?
June 3, 2009 at 2:28 pm
enlighten us. who is this “senator that enjoy his sexual life with another actress with similar name even he is already married”?

Sen. Bong Revilla is not trying to be famous because we all know that he already is.. however if natawa kayo sa patawa ni Alec Baldwin, ako hindi for me he is insulting all of the Filipino women which is not right. thanks to Mr. Sen. Bong Revilla who stand and fight for the right of all Filipina. Mabuhay ka!!!!

Alec Baldwin’s joke certainly wasn’t funny, but if we are to see this as a”fight”m then what is a “win”? Alec Baldwin’s apology perhaps? How empty is that? There is a lot of fights to be fought and a senator has the power ergo the responsibility to fight the bigger ones.
What is so disgusting about this is that he is OBVIOUSLY, UNCOUTHLY, and UNCRAFTILY doing it in our faces. Oh senator, at least treat us as intelligent people and do something different. Something new and refreshing perhaps. Look at them: Mar Roxas is gingerly pedalling a trike, Manny Villar is again feeding us his OFW care commercials (don’t follow him btw), BF is awashing us with pink and blue and Manny Pacquiao is winning. Beat that. Please. If only for the entertainment factor.

HE IS COMING OUT WITH PANDAY! DON’T WORRY!
June 3, 2009 at 12:44 am
Why don’t the dumbass senator address the deeper issue here?! Instead of attacking Alec Baldwin, why shouldnt he endorse a law prohibiting Filipina mail order brides from proliferating over the internet? (obviously, he knows nothing about making a law against cybercrime).
Banning Alec Baldwin from entering the Philippines is not going to do any good either. Besides, why would Alec visit a Third world country like ours?… not unless if he’s visiting Boracay, which for sure he’s going to use dozens of his aliases if and ever that happens.
Stupid senator…stop playing a hero and get over your machismo attitude. Your hosting of KAPS AMAZING VIDEO has done unspeakable harm to what little remains of your brain cells. Go visit a shrink.

unfortunately, about 70% of Filipino voters do not read blog neither news and do not have the comprehension about the the deeds of our politicians. Education is the solution yet they will keep the ratio for they do not want the competition
June 3, 2009 at 3:00 pm
so what are you trying to say sir? only 30% of our people are “intellectual” like you?

June 7, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Sen. Bong Revilla has all the “guts” to befit what he thinks is right for the betterment of the issue. He is really suitable for his position. We all voted for him to contribute to our needs not our wants and by that he deliberately does so.
I don’t understand why people are demanding him to shut up and just leave the matter alone, despite the mere fact that he is just doing his job.
